Kalk Reactors

I'm buying a used reactor. I have a couple options locally. A Reeftek and a GEO.
The Geo is a little more expensive.

Is it worth the extra cash?

I was getting a second GEO but

can you link to where you are seeing the Reeftek. I saw one on youtube and I like that they had the pump under the unit. Saves space.

this is the reeftek you are talking about? this is from the august 2009 totm

It looks like they have moved away from that design. I can see problems with it though. So, you may want to avoid getting a used reeftek with the older design which may be flawed. Too bad.

I have a GSA kalk stirrer and really like it. I have a video of it in action if anybody wants to see it.

ty, Matt.

Do you always run it with air inside?

I like the design more than using a maxijet and the sale price. Excellent suggestion Curt.

I would highly recommend one of the mechanical stir bar style reactors. (Deltec, Aquamedic, GSA) Super low maintenance, no powerhead to replace...

I own both an Aquamedic KS1000 and the GSA kalk reactor. The Aquamedic is fine, but I like the GSA better and it's cheaper. Highly recommended.

Thank you for your input Jason. I like better and cheaper.

I could put one together myself, but why? GSA is only charging $169. I ordered two.

I am pretty sure you sill be happy with them. ANd that is how I always run it, just like in the video. The kalk has a film on the water surface that keeps it from getting areated. So the potentcy should still be there for a while. In the end of the video thats what I was trying to show, how even the bar spinning didn't break the skin on top, because it was so slow. Which is good, IMO and keeps the effluent crystal clear.
