Kalk Top-off with Tunze Osmolator

Hi everyone..I have RO/DI in a 20 gallon tub with an osmolator used for top off..My question is would it be a good idea to have kalk mixed in the tub so that when the osmolator turned on it would pump kalk into my sump or would this harm the osmo pump or not...Would the kalk precipitate out of the RO/DI tub..Thanks for any suggestions Dave

It will shorten the life of the pump to about 6 months (from Roger w/ Tunze)

The kalk will lose concentration if exposed to air for too long, how long does your resevor last? can you find something to at least partially cover it?

I've been doing this for 3+ years on my tank with no problems. I will tell you that replacement pumps are less then $20 last time I checked so I wasn't overly worried. My topoff is clear though (no settled kalk).

jag1979 I am using a 20 gallon pail with a lid on it..I am a little concerned about wearing ou t the pump and was looking at the calc dispenser by Tunze but it is $115 for a plastic tube with hoses and bracket..seems like a lot of money. I was wondering if I cleaned the pump monthly with vinegar if that would keep the pump operational for a longer period of time and still allow for kalk top off..Thanks

I did this for about 6 months until I got my calcium reactor. I still have the same pump. I just didnt drop the pump all the way to the bottom, I lef tit a few inches above the settles stuff so it only topped off clear water.

I just add Kalk to my topoff water, but do not supersaturate it so excess kalk settles. Basically, every time I fill up the 20gal tub I know how much kalk to add to it so it will still dissolve.

I have my 25g rubbermaid holding ro/di for top off. the pump for the osmolator sits in this tub. the pump feeds my kalk reactor.

when the osmo kicks on, it pushes fresh ro into the reactor, and kalk saturated water is put back into the tank for top off.
IME putting the pump directly in the kalk will quickly kill the small pump.
