kalk via ATO

I'm planning on adding kalk to my ato reservoir. The reservoir is a 29g standard fish tank, would it be beneficial to add a small koralia pump inside the reservoir to constantly mix up the slurry you normally get on the bottom from the kalk?

No, you do not want the residue that falls on the bottom to be pumped into the tank.

There are a couple options:

1) Mix the kalk extremely well. Wait at least 2-3 hours for the solution to mix. After mixing, pump out the clear solution to another container, leaving the unused kalk on bottom and the percipation on top. Discard this unused concentration. Use the clear solution for your ATO water.

2)This option is what i do. Pump is elevated in bucket 3-4" above the bottom. Mix kalk with RO/DO. Let stand 2-3 hours. Use in your ATO.

Elevated the pump will allow the pump to suck out the clear solution (the good stuff), and not disturb the layer on the bottom.
