kalk vs. calcium supplements

Is the kalkwasser mix that is used to drip different than the stuff used to build calcium? For example, I recently bought "Reef, advantage calcium" from Seachem, in order to build my calcium level to 400ppm. It is in powder form. Im just wondering if I can dissolve the kalkwasser mix (used for dripping) into a cup of RO/DI water to raise calcium instead of the Seachem stuff.....or is the kalkwasser mix only used for dripping? Thanks for any help..-jeff
 
There are lots of different ways to supplement calcium, and they have their pros and cons. This article compares them:

but if you need to make an immediate and large boost in calcium, calcium chloride is the best way to go. It is sold by many companies, ESV, Kent, Seachem has a version, and Dowflake from Home Depot.
