Kalkwasser and float valve

Does anyone use a float valve with a gravity fed auto top off system to dose Kalkwasser?
I am wondering if I will have issues with the float valve clogging.

I used to dose Seachem reef builder for alkalinity in my auto top off, which is a 2 gallon bucket that sits above my sump. It is gravity fed using a float valve. The only time I've had issues with it clogging is when I've allowed it to run dry.

I tried, many years ago. Didn't get stuck on, like I feared, but it did clog to the point that it'd quit dripping. A peristaltic pump of some sort on a float switch is probably a safer bet. BRS's dosing pumps seem quite the deal to me.

I am using a float valve and gravity feed ATO system, and wouldn't have it any other way. I don't use Kalk any more, but I picked up a cheap (marine magic) 3 head programmable dosing pump for Calk and Alk. Works fine so far.

You can put a kalk reactor between your ATO reservoir and the sump. I use the reactor with a Tunze osmolator. Works great.

My idea for quick kalk
