Kalkwasser w\ ATO.. who is doing it?

Just Reefin'
So I've never dosed to this capacity, and wanted to get some input from the group... My issue is, I don't have extra room for separate containers in my stand, and have a 10G ATO reservoir. Can I mix the solution with fresh RO water, and have it incorporated as part of my top off routine?

I have the kalk dispensed by a Reef-Filler dosing pump, controlled by a timer on the Apex. In the summer I run it for about 7 minutes per hour and in the winter for about 11 minutes per hour, the difference is based on sessional evaporation rates. I would start out with 1 teaspoon per gallon of Kalk in your mix and move up to 2 tsp. if needed and if your PH does not get too high.

you can use a BRS top off 50ml/min dosing pump, or a litermeter 3, etc, etc.

For Kalk I use Mrs. Wages pickling Lime from Walmart in the housewares section.

My ATO is fed by float switch, and pump is an aqua lifter.. So I couldn't simply keep my existing setup, just use kalk water?

I prefer Kalk Reactors, less maintenance and hassle. My RO/DI is hooked up directly to it. I recharge the Kalk Reactor once a week or less.

I too use a kalkreactor (GEO) hooked up inline with my ATO source. When the switch in my sump asks for more water, water is pumped via aqua-lifter from RO reservoir, through the kalkreactor, and into the sump. I manually turn on the mixing pump in the kalkreactor everyday or so... I'm not as regimented on that part anymore.

My ATO/Kalk do not fit in the stand and this is a source of... "could be better" but it is what it is right now.

I've actually put my Kalk Stirrer inside the 125 sitting under my main tank next to the Skimmer.

if you need fully saturated kalk 2tsp per gallon then a kalk reactor or stirrer is the best. but if your tank needs less than 2tsp, then mixing in your ATO is the best was to control your dosing. If you need more than 2tsp per gallon, you can use 15ml of vinegar per 1 tsp of kalk to mix a high concentrated dose. the max is 3tsp per gallon, the vinegar is also a carbon dosing method.
