I think it depends on the size of your tank and your calcium demand. I would imagine kalk alone on a large tank with a large amount of sps would not work well, because you can only really dose what you evaporate and are topping off, which is why a calcium reactor is much better.
If you look around a lot of large tanks use both a calcium reactor and kalk reactor. I think this helps keep calcium levels up while keeping PH up as well
Hope that helpls a little, I have never used a calcium reactor so I cant comment on persoanl experience I have used a diy kalk reactor and two parts solutions they both worked id say with tank your size a kalk reactor would be far more cost effective than a 2 part
