Keep a lid on it

About two weeks ago I moved all the fish in my large fish only system into their new tank. I woke up in the morning to find my snow flake eel swinging in the sump below the tank that was not connected yet and was currently filled with FRESH RO water. His nose was red either from his trip down through the empty overflow box or from swimming constantly into the wall in an attempt to get out of the sump. He has fully recovered and all though it was scary at first it became a little funny once we knew he was recovered from his incident.... I should have learned my lesson.

All though I covered the new FO tank pretty well, about a week ago I lost one of my oldest fish. It has been with me since I first started my FOWLR tank and will be sadly missed. It was one of my three engineer gobys. I swear they built a little memorial for him the day after he died by building up a wall of aragonite high against the wall where he jumped out. I'd left this tank many times before with out a lid on it, this last time I live to regret. The tank now has a secure egg crate lid.

in regards to ur eel....would i be able to keep a snowflake in my 55?? is there ne eel i could keep...i really want one but dont know nething about them

Hum, how big are your fish? A little clown fish or Wrasse might be a light snack depending on the size of the eel. Snowflakes are very docile as far as eels go, but if it fits in it's mouth it very well may at some point.

I don't think I would recommend it in your tank since you have shown an interest in keeping corals and already have a couple. The eel won't hurt the corals or vice versa, but if you want to keep up with your reef tank and have your fingers in there a lot then I'd be worried about losing a finger or two. You might see videos online of people getting away with feeding and petting eels, but at the same time you can find some videos of people getting bit by eels and losing fingers.

Short and sweet, in your tank you could, but I wouldn't recommend it. Mine is in a FO(Fish only system) which I hardly put my hands in.
