Keep ASM G2 skimmer or upgrade?

Question: :hmm5:

I have a 180g bowfront with LR, corals, and 10 fish. Years ago I purchased an ASM-G2 protein skimmer. The pump has gone out (the second pump in approx 5 years). I haven't kept up with the skimmer market these days.

The frugal side of me says "buy a new pump and move on", but the reefer in me says "it doesn't hurt to ask". (Yes, the AMS-G2 skimmed well however, I don't have a reference as this is my first and only skimmer).

Would you simply replace the pump @ $80-100 or consider a new skimmer?

Hey Cassandra. I have the same skimmer. Yeah I replaced my pump also earlier this year. I bought te skimmer used. I had the same debate but just replaced my pump.

Cass make sure you order the skimmer pump. Sendra makes 2 one that is just a pump and one with the correct impeller and housing. And I want to recall they changed the numbers recently. So if you looking for a 2500 it's called the 3000 ( note not exact numbers, but you get my drift.)
