Keep Biomax running with Ich Treatment?

I already took out all the activated carbon, but would it be wise to keep the biomax filter media running with some Kick Ich treatment? Or it may just kill all the bene anyway....I hate to remove all that bio though. I am starting the treatment and taking it out, but I will keep the biomax moist and wait to hear what you guys think...
ps turned off protein skimmer too of course

I have to agree with RBU1.

I've used something called Fish-vet NO-ICH. In my opinion it was at best ineffective but by requiring me to stop skimming, remove carbon, etc. I honestly think it ultimately made made matters worse by degrading the system overall.

I don't know what biomax is, but the only ich med I've ever had success with, including copper based meds, is quinine sulfate.

My son suggested we try quinine sulfate but we didn't know where to get it - couldn't find it - (not meaning to hi-jack this thread) but could you tell me more? Is it reef safe? Where do you find it? How do you dose it?

Don't know if its reef safe; I don't think any effective med is really reef safe. But it does the trick, and it is well worth setting up a QT and taking your fish out of the reef (leaving if fallow) to treat them. Once you get used to the process (ideally QT'ing before introduction to your main tank) you will never go back. Good luck.

...very different from copper in that it appears to to be effective against ich while it is "in" the fish...
Thank-you Terra - I really appreciate the tip and the link...
