Keeping Chaeto

Is 30W flourescent over the sump enough to keep Chaeto? The distance between thelight and the Chaeto is about 4-5 "

Yup, they don't need much light.

Mine grows like crazy under a single 11 watt "daylight" bulb from Home Depot.

i believe you want a lower kelvin rating...5600 i think is the highest you want...so actually the HD bulbs work better than flourescent ones. Try to go to HD and use a clip on with a day bulb around 5600K way better than the flourescent. Mine kelvin is even lower (i special ordered a bulb but i dont think it is necessary) and started with a thimble of cheato 2 month ago now have a five gallon full
