My buttetfly only eats live brine and keeping them in a jar has a high fatality rate

Can i put them in a mesh bag and sump them?reccommend any non leaching material?

They wont hurt my water quality right?

Don't think they'll do too well in the sump because the return pump will take them up. And if you want them to grow, you'll need to feed them and that pollutes the water easily. Maybe a separate container or tank would be better. I've seen upside down 2-liter bottles used.

I honestly have been wondering about what it would take to automate a brine shrimp breeding system that would then be able to be modified to have some mechanism for automatically purging some of the population from the system and introducing them to the tank system.

Anyone know of anything like this being done? I want a self sustaining supply for brine shrimp factory basically

I buy live Brine from the LFS. Even though they run a sand filter on their holding system, the water is pretty dirty. The BS can foul it further pretty quickly - to the point of killing them. I just replace all the water right after I buy a batch & spread them out over a few different containers. The additional water volume allows them to last as long as I need them without aeration and allows me to feed them in order to gut load them.
