Keeping Pavona

Hello,

Any tips on keeping this coral. It is my first and only SPS. I got it for free just a few months ago. I think in June. It came broke in the mail so I super glued the pieces to some plugs and threw it in the tank. RSM 130 2x65 watt 10k & Actinic T5 PC

Its on the highest part of my LR and has some decent flow. You can see the coral is now growing over the plug and hopefully will grow on the LR and then up. I guess its doing really well for 3 months but just wanted some pointers I guess.

Any other SPS I should look out for that may do well if this is going OK?

Montipora.
They also grow covering the rocks, are easy to mantain and rapid growth. There are many colors and species. You have plate, digitata (very nice colors) ...

Enjoy your new corals, but I would suggest you get it off the main rocks. Pavona is a very aggressive encrusting coral, and will send out stingers. Pavona kills everything. If I have another encrusting coral, I will break off a chip and lay it on the other coral to kill it.

Pavona like good flow, and will thrive in high or low light. I keep mine on the sandbed. but wherever you keep it, dont mount it to the main rocks.

I appreciate the info. But is the following ok:

I'm on an extremely tight budget. So the chances of me adding anything additional anytime soon are slim. Yea maybe ill get a frag here and there like a monti suggested above, but I can put it on its own rock by itself far from the pavona so it would not be an issue.

Also its on the very top rock so removing the whole rock itself is not an issue if it grows to be that big. But I have plenty of time for that to happen.

Noted though that I should be very careful where I place it in the future. Especially if I was to place it on a rock that is close to other corals where the rock is not easily removable. Thanks!!

FTS so you can see where it is located and see how much space I have to add other corals without worrying about the pavona for the moment. (I think I need to move the hammer lower :/
