Keeping sharks in a kiddie pool

Aqualogic is my choice for big pool temp control.
I think you are going to be undersized with filtration on that much volume. For 1500 gallons I'd step straight to a 1/2hp pool pump from Jacuzzi or some similar brand. It will be big enough to move water and run your filtration. I'd run a pressurized sand filter or a pair of 200 cubic foot canister filters on it along with a big skimmer (ETS or RK2).

Eels won't jump unless they have a reason to. If you get them a 'safe' enough environment down low, they will stay low. Lots of rock with hiding spots will do the trick.

Don't think I am trying to discourage you from the pool. I would love to see it happen. You should maybe consider getting something like a 300 gallon Rubbermaid and set up a small pond first. This way you can get learn and experiment with different setups. You will be able to see what works for you and what doesn't.

Once you set up 1,500 gallons it will be a lot of work to make changes with. If you make a mistake with the plumbing 1,500 gallons is a lot of water. I left my gravel vacuum in a 75 gallon tank. A syphon started and about 30 gallons fell on the floor. This was enough water to cause the celling in the basement to fall. When you buy your equipment just buy it with an upgrade in mind. Do stuff like getting stronger pumps and dial them back.

While you run the 300 gallon you can slowly collect supplies and build some of the equipment yourself. No reason why you can have one pond while setting up another. This will save you some money and allow you to spread the cost out over a longer period of time. You can also make changes based on your experiences with the 300.

Either way I hope you do something and keep us updated. I just don't want to see you half fast the setup, run into problems and hate the hobby.

Yeah zoo diver does seem to be an expert on this kind of thing

His profile picture says it all.

A combo unit of a pump/sand filter would be a great place to start. 1/2 to 3/4 hp will do the trick for a volume like you are looking for.

Thanks zoo diver you have been a great help, I was looking into making this aquarium coldwater as I don't look foward to buying a 910 dollar heater and paying the electricity bill to keep it running. I know that there are different types of smooth hound sharks and 2 of them live in coldwater including the smallest one which only gets 3 feet I am also going to assume that the california ray will be able to be coldwater because I live in california and I know that the ocean water is not tropical. Does anyone on this sight keep coldwater and could give me some suggestions on pretty colorful fish.:p

I was lucky to score a Reeflo Tiger Shark with the Balder motor recently. Used for about an hour when n it was new! It's a beast... almost 90 feet of head pressure !
I'm thinking of replumbing the entire system to run off just that one pump.
Currently running Reeflo Hammerhead and iwaki 100. Both of those have been great pumps. The Reeflo for flow and Iwaki for pressure.

I have found a good heater so I will not be going coldwater I am going to make another thread about the stock list though
