kelloggi seahorses

I have my tank set up and the cycle has completed.
A local reefer is moving and selling a pair of kelloggi seahorses.
Are these good beginer seahorses?

over here we cannot get kelloggi seahorses but we have had an alert out on these as they normally dont survive past 6 months in a home aquarium.if you want a good easy seahorse i would over here say reidi or in the states erectus or angustus

It's like H. comes, while some survive, many do not, and in far worse percentages than we experience with other species.
Also, kelloggi are very often misidentified, almost as bad a kuda, so what your lfs has MIGHT not be kelloggi.
If it is kelloggi, they are lucky to have them last that long.
The "org" has a current thread plus many older threads about H. kelloggi and their problems.
Dan Underwood of Seahorse Source has not brought in comes and kelloggi as he worries about contamination spread from tanks with those in them, to the tanks of his regular species.

Would it be possible for you to post a pic of them? Also are those pots yours in your avatar? How do you find raising them?

Thanks,

Tim

Irony Irony Irony...... I show up at the lfs, and ask where the seahorse pair is. Ya know what they tell me? "We sold those yesterday." GRRRRRRR!
