kenia tree fragging itself?

I have a kenia tree about the size of a baseball and it seems to be fragging itself. Small pieces just pop off and land wherever and stick and grow. is this normal? I have glued some to a small rock and it seems to be doing fine.

If you look it over everyday you can see which ones will fall off soon. Then you can just pull them off (they just pop off when you pull a little) and then you can rubberband them to something so you can sell them or if you have a ton and are lazy like I am, you can feed the pieces to your rhizo. :)

Well I tried to super glue the pieces to a rock but they fell off. I am going to try to pile them up on a group of rocks and see if they stick

Try a small plastic container with some rubble or CC in it with the frags. Just place the container in a low flow area or use a lid. I use a plastic baby food container with holes in the lid to place the frags. THe key with the lid is to clean it every day and be sure the frags get "fresh water" (not stagnant water).

Mine frag themselves so often, that I've saturated the local market and can't even give them away anymore. Now about 10 or 15 a week get tossed out in the yard.

You'll find them growing in strange places in the tank. Don't be surprised when you peer around a little corner to find a Kenya tree popping up.

same thing happened to me. i couldnt even give them away either. i was throwing away like 20+ frags a week until i decided to get rid of the kenya tree all together. now a couple of months have gone by and i am still picking the damn things outa my tank.

cool coral and easy to grow. but once they take off your just along for the ride and there is almost no way to get rid of them.

are u serious, you have feed them to your rhizo. any pics of this? :lolspin:

I guess I could snap a pic of it next time. I really don't think about it that much. When I see a piece, unless it is a really big one, I just stick it on the edge of the tentacles of the rhizo and it goes right in and never comes out. :)

ha you could always send those 10-15 frags my way :)

I'll be more than happy to send a bunch of kenya tree frags out, but the shipping cost would be more than you can buy them for locally since they are so common and grow so fast. But anyone close enough to pick them up can have several.
