This product claims to remove organic pollutants. Is that not what a protein skimmer does? I have a seaclone( and yes, I hate it but it was free) so I was wondering if I used this resin along with the seaclone, would that be more satisfactory than just the seaclone? Or are oraganic pollutants different than dissolved organics?

I haven't used this product (actually I'll never use another Kent product after a very bad experience with their phosphate remover) but something I find confusing about it is you regenerate it in a salt brine solution... This makes me wonder how effective it's going to be in a saltwater tank

The other red flag that it raises for me... If this stuff is as awesome as it claims why hasn't it replaced carbon as a media of choice?

IMHO, stick with carbon.

I have a co worker who used it and he said he loves it. I think it hasn't replaced carbon because carbon is a staple in the trade and its a lot cheaper. I am curious as to what problems you had with the phosphate sponge? I think I'm going to try the resin and see what it does being as I don't have any fish in my tank yet.. Just a few bluelegs

I placed a cup of the phosphate sponge in my BRS reactor with the same light tumble I've used with any other GFO type product. Within two days RTN had decimated many of my more delicate SPS... My Cali Tort, Strawberry Shortcake, ORA red planet, Incredible Hulk and a number of no name pieces all gone

After removing it and replacing it with BRS HC GFO the surviving pieces seem to be on the mend

The phos sponges have to be removed after 18- hours or so. They begin to release all of the phosphate they store back into the water column. I had the same issue where all of my acroa began to RTN until every piece of SPS in my rank besides my birds nest, and millipora. Other than that it worked well. I just added the organic adsorbtion resin to NY tank an hour ago so I'll write back in a douoke days with any progress good or bad. I'm really hoping thisvstuff pulls enough out of my water to get NY acroporas polyp extension back to where it was before vacation.
