I bought a soft coral pack online a few months ago. So far, two of the tree corals (purple passion something-or-other and a neon pineapple) seem to be doing alright. The xenia stopped opening fully almost a day after I got it, but it doesn't seem to be dying; just not opening or getting any larger. However, I thought my kenya tree was dying because it was never open. Well, now I realize that it's open all night, and it closes when the lights come on and stays closed until the lights go off.
I have a 29gal with 150W HQI + 2x65W actinic PCs. The kenya is on the sand, off to the side in the most dimly area of the tank. The other two trees are up on the rocks in direct strong light.
All my parameters are right where they need to be. The only issue that I can see right now is that my skimmer is oversized for my system, so I might be removing all the nutrients from my water column. Aside from that, does anyone have any suggestions or ideas for getting my kenya to open up?
