Kenya Trees

Dear Friends,

I have several frags of Kenya Tree corals that have been auto-fragging that I mounted on plugs (my first "fragging" experience), and was wondering if anyone was interested. I'm interested in anything people have to offer. I am located in Oakland, and am generally available in afternoons to exchange. I am looking forward to meeting some fellow reefers!

Hello,
I have a question about them. I have had a few in the past and some currently. They look like crap, they are deflated and very shrunken. I had 5 and now am down to 2. Do you know what the cause could be? All of my other corals are thriving. Are they sensitive to temp or are they very sensitive to PH. I love them but after the first two weeks they shriveled up and its been about 4 months.

I have to preface these thoughts because I am an extremely inexperienced reefer. With these Kenya Trees, however, I have had great success from Day 1. I don't do any supplements, only water changes with RO/DI water and occasionally I add a capfull of Purple-Up to the tank. I previously had a Tek 4 bulb setup over my 65 gallon tank, and now I have an ATI Sunpower 6 bulb setup. The only times I have ever seen the Kenya Trees ever be less than 100% is when either the temperature is way too hot, or when I add a little too much Purple-Up, when the coral shrivels up for a 1-3 days, and then returns to normal.

Other than that, I never really did a whole lot to the tank. I do have a 10 gallon refugium under the tank (reverse photoperiod), and a Coralife SuperSkimmer 65 under the tank, but otherwise have never run carbon or sponges as a part of my filtration. They were my first corals, and have been outgrowing everything else in the tank.
