I am sorry if this has been discussed on the forum and I missed it for some reason. Did they close down for good? What happened? I really hate to see them go if this is the case. Dave was an invaluable resource at many times for as long as I have had reef tanks.

Why do you say that? I have not heard a word????

I didnt go there much but would hate to see any of our LFSs close!!

In a couple of weeks Kermit's will open one last time in which we will offer remaining inventory for sale at ridiculously low prices. Some of this will include a large selection of corals and some fish obtained through tank tear downs, moves, and overages from new installations as well as live rock and some drygoods. We will announce the date soon so keep a look out for it.

We are closing our retail operation.

After 17 years the owner has decided to fully retire and we have decided to close the retail store. We would like to thank all our retail customers and wish them the best.

Bob Cook was the owner of kermits (Daves father) has been retired form the masonry business for some time now and had Kermits open for the love of the hobby. Well time catches us all and I think Bob is ready to just stay in mississippi and not travel to Cordova a couple times a week. Many of us including myself have worked, learned and made new friends at Kermits. Heck thats where I met Richard & Lisa (memfish) when they worked for Kermits. Its sad to see Kermits fade away but Im sure we all have memories and Thanks for the donations to the club and our hobby. I hate to see Kermits close probably more than most (cant trade my corals anymore for supplies) :), but we do have another good fish store locally, so we as hobbiests must support these folks that work hard to keep our fishy stuff fun! I want to personally thank everyone who visited Kermits and especially Bob and Dave for letting me hang at there store for the last 15 years! See you guys around!

I haven't been very available much this year and have not been engaged for a myriad of reasons, (mostly my hellish corporate life these days with all its debacles) all of which suck time out of my schedule this past year, but I haven't been up to (well... hardly any LFS's) this year, including Kermit's and others.

That said, this is really sad! Dave, Chris Larson, Carlos, Jeffery, Jim and others have always been outstanding, truly very helpful and knowledgable to those of us, struggling to make our environments as awesome as their's were.

This is really sad, also, because it was driving past Kermit's Reef which re-ignited an old spark in the hobby for me, after we moved down into the area.

Even though I've been really distracted this year (corporate bankruptcy at Pinnacle Airlines), I'll really miss Dave's shop. :sad2:

That said.... Did I see a flicker of hope? I noticed the focus was on the closing of the "Retail" side of the business..... Hmmmmm....

Might Dave keep his hands wet in a commercial endeavor???? I'll remain hopeful that we haven't seen the end of Mr. Cook!

I am very sad to hear about Kermits closing, i very much wish Dave and everyone the absolute best. Even though I have not been by there in a while, I would tell anyone without question that Dave was more help to me than anyone has been in this hobby.

When my work schedule was different I used to go by there several times a week and Daves help and his support of this club has been very much appreciated.

Dave is who introduced me to the club and got me involved, his knowledge of this hobby was priceless to me.

I bought the last new tank ever sold at Kermits. On Fathers day this year there was a 1200.00 set up marked down from 600.00 to 300.00 due to the holiday.
Ill always see Dave in the back glass reflection....

I haven't been to Memphis in a while, so I didn't see this coming. I heard something about them shutting down for a remodel was all. I wish him well in retirement.

I am with Marty on this one. I can't help but think that we might see Dave do something on his own. New store in a new location maybe?

On the flip side though I would not be surprised to see him do a non retail setup where maintenance on the tanks was the main focus.

Either way a very sad day and the end of a long lived, great store.
Good Luck to all the Staff!

I am obviously in error concerning my second post and I am already working with RC Mods to have it omitted.

I completely overstated my understanding of what was discussed, which included BOTH LFS's, so I am completely and sincerely sorry if this was mis-understood.

The new word on Kermit's Facebook page is that someone bought the store and is going to open a fish store. They said details would be coming soon.
