Kessil AP700 firmware and APP issues ?

While I love my Kessil AP700 LED a lot, and have no problem of making my perfect hanging kit, I am so frustrated of its firmware and/or APP. I would like to hear from other users if bug or tip can share.

Issues I found so far... (I have two AP700 units, as you can see above)

1. unit freeze in turn on, no APP or manual turn off work, I have to power cycle the unit.

2. Set both in one group (group 1) and set my program, but one unit won't turn off when light off clock hour reach.

3. Due to above item #1 and #2, I decide to use trustworthy Apex to make sure I can turn AP700 off, to avoid coral burn, but then I found when Apex power back on, these two AP700 units stay in different light condition (one one, one off, or one on but not my set intensity and color, etc.... *&$%#^)

Anyone have similar issue or you guys use it without any problem? I would like to know.

BTW, my APP seems the latest and AP700 was just order three weeks ago from BRS so firmware should be new!?

Thanks.

Mine is working fine now. I had a lot of trouble having the app 'find' the light when I first set it up. Also every time I would save, the blue light turned off about 5 seconds before the save was complete. That was on the first day. It's been about a week and I've not have any further issues with the app itself.

That is indeed good inputs, thanks. Can you also let me know the following?

1) How many AP700 you use here?

2) Do you use manual or program?

3) Do you experience if you manually use touch button on AP700 body, will result conflict to your APP setting after next power on/off?

4) What is the best user manual you found? I can't find any user manual detail enough. For example, even those touch buttons on AP700 body, I only see some simple explanation, how we use the "program" button?

5) Have your tried the reset to factory default?

Many thanks,

Many thanks,

1.) I just have one AP over a 65g tank
2.) I'm using one of the template programs that came with the app. I just changed the color on the two high points and lowered intensity to 40%. Anything higher right now makes my corals unhappy. This is surprising because I had my Kessil 360 lights peaking at 95%
3.) I have not touched the manual controls other than turning on the wifi on the first day
4.) I'm terrible with reading or following instructions. I have not looked at any manuals yet.
5.) have not had a reason to reset yet.

I just swapped out 4x 250w MH and 8x 55w PC for two AP700 over an 8' tank two weeks ago.

Check your firmware, there was an update available just recently. Not sure BRS is updating firmware on boxed AP700s before shipping. Some of the issues you are describing might be fixed by a firmware update.

I grouped both lights into group 1 and run a basic program that ramps them up and down. I updated the firmware as soon as they arrived...new firmware had been out for a few days at that time.

I have had a few issues with mine:

1. Weather has been a little stormy here lately and we have had a few power bumps that lasted around 20-30 seconds late at night. The next day I had to run through the complete setup of the lights again before they would run the program. This happened two nights in a row.

2. Was messing around in the sump yesterday night and noticed the lights started doing what looked like one of the storm simulations. I don't have this in my program, but it was doing this for maybe 1-2 minutes and then stopped and went back to normal. Not sure what was going on.

3. Lights are turning off about 15 minutes before the program is supposed to turn them off. Not sure where they are getting the time, the iPad that I use to set the program has the correct time.

I sent mail to Kessil last Thursday asking about these issues and haven't heard back from them yet. I have read that the Android app is supposed to be much better than the iPad app, so I am hopeful that it will solve some of the program issues.

I have 2 ap700 on my 150G. I had the issue with the light turning
on way to early and not shutting off. Emailed Kessil. He told me to
make sure you off point is at 0%. The same with your on point.
Otherwise mine are running fine. I use an Ipad mini.I am still in
acclimation mode. These units are the best.

Thanks guys. I will give it a try with your suggestion. Is there a clear instruction how to update AP700 firmware? or just the iPad APP update?

You can download the firmware update tool here. Connect to the AP700 with the supplied USB cable and run the firmware update.

Im hoping they come out with this sooner rather than later... I will be buying new lighting within a month and the program issues are the only thing holding me back on the ap700

oh, cool. I did not pay attention to, but is there a place on iPAD App that I can check current firmware version?

thx.

I'm loving my AP700's more and more everyday. I just wish there was a way to turn down the intensity of the moonlights. Way too bright.

I found out one thing: If you want faster growth, make sure to ramp up to pure white for your midday color setting. I did and growth took off. So, over a 3 hour period, I ramp up/down the intensity and the color to white. Corals/clam are loving it.

That is a not-so-bad news.
Did they say that is for both iPhone and android or just android?

Hard to say, but here is what they said ...

Our app development team is working hard to make sure the platform is fully functional and stable before converting to Android. That being said, it should be released very soon, hopefully end of the year. We will update and release more information as it becomes available

Got a screen cap of your program?

Yep. This is what I am using right now. I may need to add a 0% turn on like someone said in an earlier post.

Main thing is the 3 hour ramp to white. Some of my sps polyp out like crazy during the midday ramp. It's weird.

I think I found a weird quirk... I played around with adding weather events to my program a few days ago.. deleted those and saved the program, and I think the events are still happening.. noticing my par drops momentarily at certain times of the day.. just looking at fusion because I'm not home to see it in person. Anyone know how to reset the fixture to get rid of this?
