Key Biscayne snorkeling?

hahaha i love those huge hermits i always love finding them. I like the idea of snorkeling off the beach with other people best, since i dont own a spear gun, or shark repellent. I know even if you see em they usually stay away but you never know. Its always better in groups anyways cuase you can cover more ground and show others the stuff ya find. Let me know yall, id really like to go on a sunday thats when i am off.

Remember, you don't have to outswim the shark....only the slowest swimmer in the group. :D :D :D

FWIW, I've been in the water quite a bit, and never felt uncomfortable around any sharks I've encountered.

Well I am going to pick up some snorkel gear tomorrow (all my old gear is probably crappy after being in storage so long.)
But anyway....all this talk about checking things out just off shore around here has gotten me itching to go.
Please post if there's to be an outing or a just a few people getting together. I would like to go....

I've gone diving from the beach a few times. Me and a few friends have gone off commercial blvd. and oakland park blvd and after going out a few hundred yards we are over reef.

It's not the greatest reef, but it only costs a few dollars (for parking meters, and tank fills)! We've both collected many critters for our tanks.

For example,
Arrow crabs, serpent stars, brittle stars, coral banded shrimp.

The depth is only about 10-15 feet in most places, so a tank lasts more than an hour.

This time of the year is a little rougher, so I'm not sure how the vis will be.....

But maybe we could get a small group together, and go?

Next to yellow tangs, strawberry hermit crabs are my favorite reef tank animals. I can't wait until I have my tank finished and add a few!!!

ha, i WISH! I'm not a very strong swimmer yet, so I dont' snorkel. I don't know why I even bothered getting the sportsman's license instead of just a freshwater fishing license lol

went snorkeling in hualover on sunday, but big waves made the visibility pretty bad. There was a huge ray swimming around like the size of a damn volkswagon tho, next time im going to the seagrass beds next to the rickenbuacher.....
