ive got these things in my tank, originally thought they were just some sort of barnacles, but i looked up a keyhole limpet and they look like them, theyve got a hole in the top, and same shape.

i have read they eat zoas, although i havent seen any on any of my plugs. they are starting to get out of control and i would like them gone, but there are many tiny ones, and i do not want to just pull them out and let them suffocate. is there something i can put in that will eat them that is also reef safe? i have zoas, acans, and a few frogspawn and hammers. i had thought about picking them out and taking them to the ocean and just tossing them in the water although i would prefer to put something in that will just eat them

Never heard of or seen any of mine touch any corals. Mine are on the smaller side but seem to be model reef citizens

i have ones ranging from zoa polyp size to the size of quarters, i just got through with a coral eating asterina star outbreak, id rather have more stars than these guys

Yours are harmless. There are anecdotal reports of a couple of species of fissurellids grazing on zoanthids, but yours shouldn't. They should be film and sponge feeders.

Cheers,

Don

as long as theyre harmless they dont bother me, just dont want it to get out of control. after the asterina stars which devoured nearly all my zoas im jumpy with hitchhikers that i find now
