Kill that xenia

There is something that I can put in the tank that will kill the xenia? Does it have any ill effects? What is it and is there any reason to not use it?

Inject with kalk paste or joes juce. Or cut and sell and where you cut them off inject w/ above or they will grow right back. Lime juce also works.

I dipped an sps coral in fluke tabs and didn't rinse the coral off before putting it back in the display and my xenia melted to nothing in a day or so. This also works with green star polyps. The only "problem" is that you probably won't be able to keep xenia/GSP ever again in the same aquarium.

Fluke tabs. Thats it. They also kill gsp? Cant do that. I am trying to get a GSP back wall. KAlk. That has to work. Thanx.

Hey and sell it? To who?

Xenia for sale $5 a stalk attached to a small rock.

Bring it to the frag swap...someone is always looking for some. I had no problem moving a few pieces last time.

Yea a few people have been looking for Xenia recently, I remeber because my comment was that before the fluke tab nuke, I couldn't get rid of the stuff fast enough at like $5 for a big frag..

Depending on what else you have in the tank you could raise the temp... I had a pump fail and the temp got to 84 and the xenia just melted away. Drove the skimmer crazy and I added carbon just to be sure but everything else survived with no issues.

that happen to me, i had a GSP for 3 years and it had grown nicely. I will try using poly-filter to remove traces of the fluke tab if possible.

I will not be at the frag swap but I will bring some to the next meeting. Too bad I did some razor blading to my rocks earlier. I wanted to cut it back. I will make a few frags that will be ready next week. I will post when there ready.

I keep my Xenia under control with a pair of stainless steel long-nose pliers. If you grab it near the base you can pull it off the rock with little or no residue. It's easier at night when they're contracted a bit. The method eliminates the ammonia spike caused by the "melting away" methods.

I like it, just not all over the tank.

Something to keep in mind is that people have used Xenia as nutrient export, simply throwing them away when they took over too much. Just like pedro said, going at night and taking them away when they're least expecting it, that's usually the cleanest way to get rid of them

Have fun in Orlando :)
