Killer Serpant Star?

I have a brown serpant star. A couple months ago I lost a peppermint shrimp that I caught him munching on. I wrote if off that the shrimp died and he was just cleaning up....

but I still was always curious...

Last week I was trying to introduce a new clownfish and my older one was chasing him around like crazy and he went down to the bottom in the corner under a rock to rest and I saw the arms come out and try to grab him. I had dismissed it as him being curious because I have had so many people tell me they are not agressive like that.

Well after a few days in a breeding net I let him back out to see how the acclimation between the two were going. For a couple of hours they seemed fine so I went to my son's ballgame which lasted 1-1.5 hours. I get back and my new clown is dead and my star is trying to eat him. I did not see any bite marks or damage from the other clown but again I am not sure what really happened...

For insurance I have tossed the star in my smaller tank.

The death toll for this moster now stands @

2 peppermint shrimp
1 B/W false perc
1 Domino Damsel

Next time I get a chance I am taking him back to the lfs, I son't care if a get credit or anything for him.

I had a large black brittle star that ate over $150 of fish. Some really pretty, well settled fish. a beautiful flasher wrasse, and six spot goby and mandarin that were both eating frozen food and doing really well and wheelers watchman. I realised it was the star as all those fish slept on the sand. The clowns and clown gobie sleep on rocks and are still here.

I lost a coris wrasse to my serpent also. I'm now feeding him shrimp chunks and he knows when is feeding time.

Why not sell him to somebody who wants him?
