Killing unwanted zoas

I have some zoas that are taking over a rock in my tank. I need to kill them off but I can remove the rock(its a base rock). Any suggestions? I was thinking about putting a black plastic trash bag over them for a week or so. Bad idea?

Removing the rock from the tank gives you many more options to deal with them.

I don't think a week of dark would even phase them.

Anything else on the rock that you fancy? If not, bleach kills all. peroxide will **** them off, but they will spring back.

A wire or hard nylon brush to get most of them off, making it easier to kalk them and finish them off. If you go this route, wear eye protection, zoas are mean little suckers.

I have given a bunch of them away already. I need them gone at this point. Your welcome to come take them if you can get them off without taking the rock out.

They are actually palys I believe. Pink and brown.

I've tried almost all approaches and my brown palys came back after. I just ripped the tank apart and removed the rock. Years worth of wasted time lol.. And I still have a few randoms around the tank. I have a high power laser that I burn them with. Works good on aptasia but the palys take a few sittings to torch them. Whatever you do keep on it cause they will just heal and get healthier again and make it that much harder.

I think I have ones similar to these. Only mine are yellowish with brown skirt. They are isolated in the sand bed. But now I'm considering removing them before they become a problem

I think if you could find someone with that laser that might be the way to go, i know you have them everwhere. The ones i got from you are restricted to the sand but i think the pink is starting get brighter.
Btw your hammer has now split into 2 heads whenever you get time

ahhh... maybe I can get in town this week. Ill let you know. Yes keep them on the sand bed. They are the devil on the rocks!

I made a wand to try to kill some texas trash paly's, it put a dent in them, but they always sprang back.

Some 2 part epoxy might be able to smother them, just pave right over them.
