Klein's Butterfly

Anyone have any suggestions on how to get one of these terror's out of my tank? What a mistake putting him in! I have an aiptasia problem. He predominately nips at sps and lps and could care less about the aip's.

He is too quick for a net and is too smart for a fish hook.

I had the same problem. We ended up having to take everything out of the tank and catching him. What a pain in the arse! The good news is that our rockscape looked much better after the fact. : )

Sorry to hear that. I've had great luck with my Kleins, and have zero aiptasia.

I've got a fish trap if you'd like to borrow, and I'm not TOO far from you.

best solution for catching any and ALL fish..NIGHT FISHING. All you do is turn off the lights in the tank and all the lights in the room for two hours at night of course (i.e 8pm) and then turn them back on at 10pm..all you have to do is poke the fish out of its spot and being blind as a bat, you can just scoop it up with a net..done deal ; )

get a large clear plastic container and but the coral he likes the best in it and wait for him to go in to eat and then just pick up the container with coral and fish in it. It can work really easy if you have patience.

No luck with the fishing hook huh Mark? That's cause you don't have it on a nice fishing rod with a cool shiney luer! ;)

That's a very interesting idea Laverda! Genius!

Tangwich is a genius! I was able to get a Flame Hawk out last night using his technique. The flame hawk I beleive was guilty of eating all the peppermints I kept adding to fight the good fight. Tonight I will go back in and catch the Klein's.

Thanks Tangwich!

The fish hook is a great technique as well, but I always catch the same fish every time. Never the one I want. The problem is I have too many fish. I will be posting a "Catch and Release" sign on the front of my tank pretty soon.

By the way, I was able to add a Copperbanded Buttlerfly that actually made it this time. I added him at the same time as the Klein's. At least he has made it for two weeks and he is proving to be very efficient at eating aiptasia. It is actually fun watching him inspect the aiptasia and then with a quick snap of his mouth he eats the aiptasia. Beautiful fish and fun to watch!

...And my tank looks better and better every day.

Hey, that's great to hear mclaman..it's my pleasure to pass along the tricks of the trade..hope you get that Klein's next..

Sorry to hear about the Kliens... Beautiful fish. I collected a Raccoon BF just over 2 months ago. That guy is a beast, he also destroyed my mushrooms... After one week, no mushrooms or aiptasia. I had huge aiptasia too. Also, what was nice is that he is leaving my ritteri nem alone.

My polyp extension has gone from good to bad. It pains me to watch the Klein's inspect the polyps on all my corals. He inspects and then attacks. He goes after acro's, monti's, stylo's, acan's, and softies. I do not like him.

Hit up Brian at Ocean Blue in Orange. He has the DOPEST fish trap ever!!! I borrowed it from him yesterday, and within 20 minutes of getting home, I caught the fish.

GL

Mark he is not touching the corals Iam supossed to get frags from right? Because if he is Iam about to deive to your house and give him a good oldfashioned fish beat lol! Good luck and I have a trap if you want to borrow it.

Mark how is the red stag horn doing? Would it be possible to get a frag in the future?:)

Thank you Tangwich. I got the culprit. It is good to know a quick a guaranteed method of getting undesirable fish out of a tank.
