i have some on order.. just curious if people ran these long-term

I think @Reefing102 looked into these a while back. If memory serves, the more expensive version (the a8) uses better LEDs and drivers and the cheaper version (a8se) uses cheaper off-brand LEDs and drivers.

yes i went with the cheapest of the cheap i could get (166 usd a piece)

Yep, I looked into these back in 2023. While I ended up not buying them, several people did. What @griss mentioned is correct. It also seems the biggest complaint is the app.

AliExpress A8SE Reef Light

Anyone have any experience with this light? Just found it browsing AliExpress and thought it looked to be a pretty good knock off of the XR30 AliExpress A8SE I tried searching but nothing came up unless I was searching wrong
