Know anything about this?

looks like a korallin model

if it doesnt produce enough calcium (sorry alk) than what are you going to do with it

That's the question. Will it produce the same results as the calcium reactor (except having to change the media more frequently) AND serve as a DeNITRIFIER all without a co2 tank?
Or am I'm completely confused.

you have the idea right

how low will the DeNITRIFIER make the ph inside the unit would answer your question?

also depends on the mdia you use

6.5-6.7 ARM
6.0-6.3 SCHUran amd gen-x media

i have seen a review of one a long time ago but dont remember what was said in it--- Kent was always talking about this design and wasnt sure how effective it would be unless you had a very high nitrate probelm

well, from reading a ton of thread on Denitrifiers and the majority said it did great. Both this and the korallin. People who always had problems getting their nitrates lower than 15-20ppm regardless of how many water changes.
However, there were others that had higher nitrates that had great results also.

I'm just thinking that if I can accomplish 2 things with one peice of equipment, sounds good as I don't have much room.

sounds like it hit or miss and do you want to be a tester?

if this doesnt work are you willing to still buy a calcium reactor?

Well I currently have a calcium reactor but I would not have enough room for both. I would probably sell my current reactor to help pay for this.

Hmmm.

Would it help if you were to tie your co2 bottle to the bottom of your tank inside the cabinet? That would give you some more space...

Not really. The reactor I have has a pretty small footprint as it is- 8.5"x8

I can fit the co2 in there somewhere. It's mainly the unit itself

I was trying to find the dimensions for this thing wihout luck. How tall is it? Maybe you can have it on the sump.

I can still change the topoff box if you need that space and are willing to do the topoff like I will be...

I don't think I can get away with it in height. However, once the top off is in there I'm going to look at the current reactor I have to see if I'm going to stay with it (the reviews of it on here are pretty damn good)
I might actually be able to go to the 2.5lb. co2 tank and have the Denitrifier in addition to my calcium reactor. I'll have to look over the space.

No, lets stick with the measurements. I need that much at least so I'll just have to work around it

Found out a couple things.

#1
The breaking down of the nitrate will lower the PH inside the filter and dissolve the crushed coral, thus adding
calcium to the system. But, it does not eliminate the need of the calcium reactor.

#2
It can be run in sump or out of sump

#3
Depending on how much room my top off reservior leaves me, I might be able to fit this actually.

#4
If I don't have the room, I could use the area for my cheato for this instead and run it in sump. Since the cheato at that point will be only useful for phosphate and I'll be running a phosban reactor, can anyone see a reason to even have the cheato?

#5
Might use the money from selling my tank/equipment when I break it down for one of these.
