Kole Tang and Fin Issue

I just got this Kole from my LFS. I didn't notice the fin tear/rot in the store, although it was eating and swimming fine. Once I got home and put him in my QT, I saw the issue and sent the attached photo to the LFS. They said they noticed it before it left the store and thought it was a tear from when they were bagging it. Does it look like that is the case? Thoughts?

Does not appear to be fin rot. Damage is most likely. If your LFS noticed it and said nothing, then you should probably not shop there anymore. If your LFS caused that sort of damage while bagging a fish, they DEFINITELY shouldn't have your business anymore. No one with an idea of how to properly bag a fish would ever cause that kind of damage.

Most likely, though, it was caused by another fish in the tank with it.

thanks. yeah. in all fairness, it is a good shop; but, they had a new employee (a kid) bag my fish.

Something like that should grow back. You'll probably start seeing new growth within the next couple of days.
