Kole tang fin issue? or normal ?

hello,
I have a kole tang that I have had for about 3-4 weeks now. he was quite active and eating heartily. over the last 3 days or so he has developed dark caudal and dorsal fins. his eating has slowed and he seems to just be hanging around this little cave I built.

here are a few pictures:

(I hope I did pics right)

water parameters:
Ammonia: .02
Nitrite: undetectable
Nitrates its hard to read. looks like it says 20ppm, but I would think other corals would show effects? 50% water change showed no change on re-test.

all tests were done with red sea
sorry if this is in wrong area(first post), please feel free to move as needed.
thanks in advance
Murf

the tank is only about 4 months old. when I say .02ppm, that's just because my eyes cant really tell in the lighting that I have at the house.

Looks like some sort of bacterial infection to me. I'd recommend treating in a QT with a broad-spectrum antibiotic like kanamycin or nitrofurazone.

did you qt the fish before it went in the tank..sometimes tangs can be hard to acclimate.. good luck, what are you feeding and what was the previous owner feeding, maybe its the food..

I am feeding nori soaked in garlic and PE Mysis. today his fins look a little frayed, so I am leaning towards fin rot.

thanks for the replies guys.
