Kole Tang Help

I just recently bought a beautiful 4" Kole Tang. She's picking away like mad at my lr in my quarantine but not taking to formula 1 or brine. She is very active when not being watched, but is still very shy. Anyone have anything they recommend I feed her? It's been 3 days and all I have seen is her picking at rocks. (Which she is always doing) Thanks!

BTW,

There are no signs of stress. (No heavy breathing, flashing, etc..)

All mine did was pick at rocks for months. All I fed at the time was Mysis. Within the last month I started feeding spectrum pellets as well and every fish including my kole tang go absolutely nuts for them.

Tangs, by species have different general attitudes (forwards or reclusive). Tangs within species can have their own characteristics.

In general, the Kole Tangs are reclusive and almost always on the go foraging for food. They are so used to finding their food by looking down that training them to look up can take time. But each is sort of unique in this regard.

I'm glad you have it in your quarantine tank. That is easiest place to get it to start eating the foods you want it to eat and that it should be eating. :)

I had a Chevron Tang, juvenile that would pick at food and then began eating fairly well in the QT. When it went into the display it at first acted like all food entering the tank belonged to it. The other fish convinced it otherwise in short order. :D

Formula1 is not targeted towards tangs, you should try formula2. Most newly arrived tangs at my store go crazy after formula2. Especially the garlic enhanced flakes.
