Kole Tang is crazy

I came home from work today and i noticed something strange on my Kole Tang. This may sound crazy and ive never heard of such a thing but it appears something shot a quill through the side of the tangs body!!! I wish i could oost a pic cause the fish is going crazy and i don't know what to do. Should i attempt to pull it out? I also can,t tell if its a worm because its swimming around too fast. I added an emerald crab to the tank last night but i was told it wouldnt harm my fish and i didnt see it holding a blow gun. Ever hear of this any advice would help. Thanks in advance.

If it’s by the tail this is normal they will retract off and on or at least on mine they do.

Nope it is a bone that will show up on both sides of the fish. I think all tangs show this feature. I have a Regal Tang and it has shown it's once adn I have seen them on Yellow Tangs. Please correct me if I am wrong, anyone.

Thank you very much it is near the fin but its only sticking out of one side. I feel better now that you said that its my favorite fish.
