Kole Tang vs Starry Blenny

I know that many have experienced issues mixing Ctenochaetus Tangs and Salarias Blennies due to them being direct competitors for the same food source--even in fairly large tanks.

I had a Kole and a Starry together in a 180 several years ago (and were together for a few years) with mild chasing but no real issues and am looking to do the same again in my 210--both tanks house about 250-300 lb. of live rock. I did have a few other tangs (Blue, Powder Blue, Yellow plus a 6" Emperor Angel) in that tank to occupy much of the Kole's attention. In this tank, the only sizable fish will be a Yellow and a Blue Tang (Hepatus) besides the Kole and no Angels.

Try them again or no? Put them through QT (w/divider) and add them at the same time to help?

Thanks
Mike

I'd try it. Instead of introducing them at the same time, which isn't a bad idea, you could try putting the kole in later. Let the blenny get established before you introduce the tang.

I would've thought the same thing about the order of introduction and then I came across a thread where nearly half the responses experienced the aggression coming from the Tang and the rest with the aggression coming from the Blenny. In my case the Kole Tang was first and it was the mild aggressor. Still, I'm heavily leaning towards your advice and will try to get small specimens of each fish.

Thanks
