Koralia powerheads

OK, so I picked up a K4 a couple of days ago to be used with my 150g tank that I am setting up. As some of you may know I have praised Seio's in the past, but I continue to be surprised with how well these Koralia's circulate water. Their flow pattern is so much wider than anything I've used in the past it's just unbelievable. I can't wait till the K5,6,7 &8's come out, they will be awesome.

Just be careful, I just had another incident this week with stray voltage in a customers (member) tank, killed a lot of coral and stressed out the rest. Unplugged and 24 hours later all is looking well again. Exact same situation as previous incidents, not sure why it happened. All I know is she is ordering an MP40 now.

Update: Tested the K4s that were brought in (above) one leaked 23 V the other leaked several volts each for a grand total of over 30 V in the tank. Tank is doing fine now. Not to worry though, the guys at Hydor assured us that the fish are "immune" to stray voltage,
that's a relief.

Just for conversation purpose, how would a grounding probe play in with this? Would it eliminate the stray voltage?

According to the experts yes, it does, either way my advice is , if you are running these pumps get a ground probe ASAP at least it cant hurt. However, if you have an issue where you are "feeling it" unplug whatever it is and toss it. Better safe than sorry.

I am still having stray voltage problems in my tanks. My electrician said our "dirt was dead" where the ground is located outside the house. We need to install a couple 3ft copper rods into the ground with copper wire connecting each back to the electric box. He was very insistent on the connecting wire be a solid piece of wire from beginning to end.

I have gotten rid of all equipment that leaked. We were told our stray voltage is traveling through the concrete! We raised the 230g tank with jacks and put a truck bed liner between the steel frame and the concrete. We still get some voltage. It is much lower but you can still "feel it". We have since learned that some places are impossible to ground completely.

A trip to Lowes is in order. I am anxious to see how well the new grounds work and hopefully stop me from getting zapped!
