Koran Angel with nasty cloudy eye

Hey Guy's,

Haven't been around in a while, but unfortunately now I come asking for help with my Koran. I got him sent here to Peru from Indonesia last thursday and it has been in quarantine since. All the other fish I had sent are fine, but for some reason this guy has it's right eye in terrible shape. The left eye seems fine.

Water parameters are normal. Meaning no ammonia or nitrite, nitrate is also quite low. Specific gravity is at 1.022 and all fish are being treated with cupramine.

What do you guys think this could be, bacterial? parasite? fungus? And which treatment should I go with.

I did try using the Blue Life Safety Stop baths, but didn't help.

Hope someone could help. Thanks a lot.

Mrscribbles,

Yeah I noticed that the large angels didn't do to well. I had one other Koran that only lasted a couple days, a large Six Barred Angel and a well not an angel but a large Ephippium Butterfly that arrived dead.

Although I do have a small problem, living in Peru, the hobby here is very small and very limited in medications. I usually find myself using over the counter medications, I once used tetracycline on a Clown Trigger with fin rot that worked well.

Do you think something like erythromycin would work?

Yes any over the counter/vet supply erythromyacin will work. Need to find correct dosage rates depending on the product strength.

Mrscribbled,

That is excellent news. I will try it out and see how it goes. I'll keep you posted on how things go during the next couple days.

Again thanks for the help.
