Does anyone else with Hydor Korila powerheads seem to have issues with them starting in reverse?
Korila Powerheads start in reverse.

Yes, as doc said, email them and you will get what you need. Buying a vortech isn't an option for some due to the price tag.

Come on guys. some folks cannot afford the price of the Vortec's. I know I cannot. telling someone to go buy another item does not fix what they have nor does it answer their question.

It is not as if Koralias are some kind of Wal Mart brand. They are a great powerhead for the money. I am sure I could dig up several threads about noisy vortecs btw. If the thread was 'Looking to upgrade power heads...need advice' then by all means chime in, but I too have seen this pattern of replies in other threads and find it kind of condescending.
back on topic, I have the same problem with the evolutions. I have 2 750s and both start in reverse. They sent me replacement things the props sit on, but they were exactly the same as what I had.
Therewas a knob in the screenthat the prop would hit when it started, I removed it on both power heads because it created an annoying buzzing sound. I don't know if it was there for shipping or if it was meant to help the props start the right direction. My resolution now is to not stop them. And if they do stop and start in reverse, I pull the cover off while they're running, grab the prop and stop it and push it in the opposite direction. It then takes off on it's own in the right direction.
The last communication I had with Koralia was to send one of the powerheads to them after sending several pics and they claim it looks fine and I shouldn't be having issues.
Problem is, I need the powerhead... So, I haven't sent it in. They didn't offer to send me a replacement, just said send us one...
So, let me know what you find out!

+1 Travis32. I had the same problem with the Evolution. Three weeks after contacting the people at Hydor, I received the so called "upgrade" which looked exactly like the bushing sold with the pump. The new bushing did not solve the problem (starting in reverse) I have to do just what you do each and every time I have to restart the pump. This post is not an attempt to bad mouth anyone, just responding to the post.

Just to make sure you know what you are looking at between “old” and “new,” here is the picture from the Hydor site. It is the bearing retaining area that was reworked to keep the bearings from popping out or spinning. And by the way, that little rubber bumper on the front cover is necessary.
Redfish, I appreciate the feedback. If the rubber bumper is necessary then why did the prop buzz against it? If I had left it, the plastic prop would have been warn down to nothing by now, or is it supposed to wear the bumper down until it doesn't buzz anymore?
I used the new bushings they sent just in case there was something there I couldn't see. It never changed anything. My guess is the bumper was supposed to be part of keeping it going in the right direction, however it was like a constant buzzing of a bee that filled the entire room, even while under water. And there was nothing in the instructions or paperwork that said anything about what that part was there for or anything, it wasn't even int he parts list. So, I assumed initially that it was for shipping.
I'm not bashing koralia either. Just stating the frustration I've been through with these. I like the look and overall design and flow of the powerheads. I think they're great for the price. Just wish they'd be reliable to start in the right direction and I wish the documentation would have been more clear as to what parts were for the actual operation.

I just contacted Hydor via internet and sent customer service a note, and, well...... I'm not expecting much. Even though I was at the North American site, with English as the chosen language, I got an automated response in Italian!!! It looked like "They appreciate yada yada, will get back ASAP". LOL!!!!!
Travis, I have 6 Koralia's so far. Four 750's and 2 1050's. Two of the 750's start in reverse occasionally, the others are fine. None of them buzz. Other than the older 750's occasionally starting in reverse, I find them quiet and work very well. Maybe you have a bad unit?
