Hey,

long time no see your name, how are things?

Catherine is doing much better, thank you.

I am using this new threat as we were taking over the other guy's selling tank threat.

I heard that you were banned with ESPI, and, I can actually see why. It's amazing, since you are actually a very nice guy.

This is also why I have a problem with the new site: it lost all the benefits of this site, namely, being part of a big conglomerate with the ability to increase or sustain growth ad lib. Yet, the new site had to actually exactly what the old site was bashed for: people who just didn't want to hold back a little for the fact that not everyone wants to hear rude, and, the new site now has their own moderators: What a waste and duplication of efforts! My experience with politics and life tells me that those who complained about the moderators here will soon find out that they may step into the same uncomfortable "Can't please everybody" shoes.

Oh well, I wish you luck and hope to hear from you every once in a while. I am content being one of very few who are here, i am better with small groups.

How are your tanks doing? Have you started/ done anything new lately?

Have a great week!

Rainer,

Things could be better my way, I herniated a disc in my mid back along with 2 protruded discs in my neck. That alone is pretty stressful being 26yrs young, I feel trapped in the house with only so much I can do, then I found out my grandfather has prostrate cancer which makes me more upset then words can explain. So I have two important things I'm trying to learn to cope with here.

I'm glad to hear Catherine is doing better, that's always good news! :)

as for the ban I didn't agree with it at the time but after having so much time to think about things and what I did, I totally see why it happened. I surprise myself sometimes. I'm a menace behind the computer screen and a pretty easy going guy in person. Its to bad things worked out that way but at least I can still be friends with some of the people from the club that can see past the events that happened and see me for who I am in person, not the menace behind the computer screen. I'm sure it don't help matters that I play Mr.sneaky and sign on and give myself karma over there. I find humor with stupid things online I guess..

My tanks are doing pretty well, I took down my 10gal nano, but I still have my 90gal and a little 10 gal prop tank. Everything seems to be doing really well too, Hopefully things stay that way with the tanks... How are your tanks doing? Still have the prop setup going? That flushing setup was really cool !

Keep in touch Rainer, its good to hear from you !

I can honestly say I miss the Reefcentral days ;) I rarely frequent the CDMAS forum anymore. But then again, I rarely visit this forum either. So my opinion is rather meaningless. Without becoming sedimental I'll leave it at that. lol

Glad to hear Catherine has been improving Rainer!

K,

sorry to hear about your back - the human bodies are a mystery, aren't they? Just when you think you are feeling great, you get a little PM from your body saying: "Woah, I'm in charge here!" It is great to have you around again - I've been wondering about how you are doing! Glad to hear that introspect is alive and well!

Lakeside, haven't heard from you in a while either! Are the tanks still up, or have you torn them down? I know you were kinda thinking about that, no? Hope you don't - the hobby needs some steady people!

My tanks are doing very well; my main had two tiger tail cuc's die which, of course, started a pretty good algae thing going, but, the inhabitants (SPS, etc) love the extra nutrition and are growing like mad (not that I want to keep the algae on purpose:) )

I am currently in the process of re-doing my RO/DI - will be buying refill containers, probably use a 2 stage DI ( one for anion, one for cation ) and take Dave Carters idea and use a 5 micron followed by a 1 micron filter. My TDS has been around 4-5, with a TDS leak (not the right term, I know) up to about 30! I would like to get a steady ZERO. More research to be done!

Stay in touch!!!!!

I need to take mine down. It may begin this week. Hoping to be moving soon. I'd like that new JBJ 28 gal Nano designed by reefer for reefers. Seems rather impossible to get my hands on at the moment.

Other then that I would like to take it down before I do anymore damage to what was other wise a beautiful running system. Its sad to see it now. :(

I agree this hobby does need some steady knowledgeable people to keep it going. I'd like not to bail. I just need something that requires much less time and maintenance for me to stick with it for now.

Rainer,

Any tips or tricks to help me out with my back?
What do they usually do for protruded and hernaited discs?
My chiropractor wants me to get some epiderial injections into the discs with steriods, he says it'll "put the fire out"

Is that true? I know I dont want surgery, I'm to young to have a disc pulled alreday :O

Sorry to hear about your back Krazy K. Hope it works out ok.

I still take a look at this forum now and than, waiting for everyone to come back. It's going to happen, there's no doubt.

Nammy,

I think you are partially correct: at some point the realization will set in that a separate form has more inconvenience than the initial perks of 'being on our own'! I know this from having my own medical company-It sounds great to be on your own and have control, but then again, you then HAVE TO make the decisions! Not so pretty after months/ years! Glad to see yuor name, Nammy! How are things? How are the tanks? How is work?

KrazyK,

I think this may be a thing of a telephone call. I don't like to give cookbook medical advise; each person is specific in their needs and, what works for one doesn't work for another.

In general, however, bulging disks at your age are not something unusual, generally. I don't remember the percentage, but studies show (and I certainly see them on x-rays of my own patients) that people are found to have 'Schmoerl's nodes' (? sp), which are smooth craters produced by bulging disks, created to make room for the nerves and disks.

As for injections: If you can stand the pain without, go without the injections. It is only another instrument which could cause you harm (though generally pretty safe). Also, the swelling produced by the herniations is not necesarily bad - it is a protective mechanism of the body (unless it lasts too long - don't nkow when you initially injured yourself)

There is only one advise that I can give you, regardless of individuality: MuskuloSkeletal systems heal best with use! My standard advise to my patients is: Do as much as you can unless the pain causes your face to grimace! PT would be best so someone can instruct you on the exercises you should do: if you had PT, follow the instructions to the 'T'! Also, your chiropractor should be giving you exercise instructions - it is THE BEST treatment possible. Surgery should be left to those who are crawling on all 4's do to pain.

However, standard disclaimer here: This is only my opinion and in no way should be misconstrued as medical advise and you need to discuss your case with your doctor; etc, etc - you know what I mean, yes?

Rainer,

I hear ya, I originally injured on 11/9/06. I get a constant burn/throbbing in my upper left shoulder area right up into the base of my neck, sometimes my left arm will get tingly right into my thumb..

Some days it actually feels OK, but then I go to do something and I hurt for another week before if feels just OK again.. :(

Its more annoying then anything.. I just wanna go back to work (never thought I'd say that) haha

Summer is coming, that's great news...
I'll be moving back to Canada next year and will probably retire from the Military in 2009. (27.5 years of service!) I need to move on and find something new to do. (Open a fish store????)
My tank is fine; however I'm not too concerned about the display. I’m starting to collect some corals to bring back with me. Grow them enough so I can start a small scale coral farming. I’ve been talking to CITES (Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora) about getting authorization to export corals back with me. Good success so far.

god bless krazy k. I have had back problems for years. I have two metal rods and plates now in my back. surgery does not help. I am now having problems with hip and upper back. the steriods help for a week . they give you a feeling that your better, believe me your not. there are days when I can't even get out of bed. if i left anything over 20 lbs i am in tears from the pain. they want to do more surgeries on my hip and back. I said no way. hot showers help, sleeping with pillows under your knees can help and a back brace helps.

I know what it's like too, I had injured my back in 1995 in a National powerlifting contest in Belgium. The good thing about it, I finished second. (Yes, you don't need to be first to be a winner, or is it weiner)

Won't be for a while yet, but the plans calls for Store/back of store farming. 2400sg/ft.
I have a place in mind already.

That's as far as I go with that ;)

Update on my Epideral Shot:

it went well and wasnt as bad as I thought it was going to be, still a needle into the spine is no fun but its do-able...

I could NOT sleep at all last night, was lucky if I got 2-3hrs, my back hurts worse today then before that shot... :(

Hopefully this will let off a lil in the next day or two...

I feel for anyone with back pains, I know first hand its something no one should have to deal with...
