L.e.d. Lighting

Are there any studies or threads on someone using led's and having coral growth? I've read people theorizing about it but I haven't seen anything with before/during/after pics or accounts.

IMAC LED presentation

Don't know much about the topic, but I attended a presentation by Tullio Dell Aquilla at IMAC / Chicago / last weekend of April.

He talked about how the technology has progressed and demonstrated an LED unit which was very bright. His background is testing and developing new lighting formats.

Most of the audience was quite intrigued with the possibilities.

It's a cool idea in theory. But just like the currently used bulbs, it's not just the spectral output that you see, i.e. 10,000 K but when it fills the whole range. I "guess" they've done those tests on these but then again wouldn't they have some prototype tanks showing before and after of some acros, monti's (for the dramatic effect), and others. I know I have a little flashlight you shake and it is amazingly bright for how low of wattage a LED is. I use a red one to look at my tank at night.
