lol....as far as your tanks of course!

I absolutely love women who are as into this hobby as men and I love to see what women's tanks look like and how enthusiastic they are about their builds. I'm sure I've seen a few on here but with Usernames, its kinda hard to figure out who's tanks are the source of the people who make the world go around. (Women of course)

Would you mind showing a picture of your tank? or guys if you are the one on the forums but you have a tank that belongs to your girlfriend/friend/wife would love to see it.

Okay, I'm in! :D

I'm definitely the reefer in my family; my boyfriend is totally tolerant of the amount of time (and money) I spend on the hobby and gladly carries water jugs to the car for me so he doesn't have to hear the total when I'm ringing up, and he thinks the tank is cool, but it's not his thing. The deal is I get a tank and some day he gets an airplane. :bounce2:

I started with a Biocube 29 but started planning the new build within a couple of months. My tank is still frag city but I'm okay with that, I know it's just a matter of time and patience before it fills out.

(You can't see them but there are two baby clowns and a RBTA in the acclimation box on the upper right)

And the sump:

65g Starphire, 20L sump, Kessil A360NEs, Jebao DC6000 return, 2 TLF 150s, Aquamaxx EM100 skimmer, Tunze Nano ATO, foam/rock wall (made it myself!), an Apex, and some other stuff like MarinePure media in a rack in the fuge. I haven't needed to dose, Kalk is taking care of it. :)

I can talk about my tank for days but everyone's kind of tired of hearing about it, lol. :D

And here's a little video!

wow, I dont know what it is about the lighting and rock wall combo but it kinda gives the feeling im looking into an underground reef cave...if that makes any sense. lol Looks cool.

Isnt that a Maxspect I see up to the right or is that something else? I've been wanting to get one of those but been debating between that and a tunze.

Your sump definitely looks like the work of a woman, all symmetrical, organized and pretty. lol

great job on the rock wall.....if only I had the skills...

Thank You for sharing

Thanks! Yes, the only pump in the tank is a Gyre 130. I'll be picking up the new control box and battery backup as soon as they're released. It's great - it really works as advertised. My substrate stays squeaky clean. I can't really run it over 50% or the LPS start to get beaten even though they're on the bottom on the opposite side of the Gyre.

The Kessils create a lot of harsh shadows, so that might be why the cave feeling. :)

Not a lot of lady reefers unfortunately... I wish there were more, I go to meets and feel weirdly out of place. :( Not that my local reefers aren't friendly, it's just a little disconcerting!

This just gave me some insight on the stand I'll be building. Im going with an all white theme. problem is, that the tank trim is black and it is a bowfront. your design I'd be able to hide the black around the trim?

How bendable is this wood to possible form a bow?

Depends on the type of wood. Also steam can be used as could weights in the center. All sorts of tricks one can use to do this.

yeah, I know wood can be bended. I was asking op how bendable the trim is she has around the lip of her stand.

Thanks for the compliments! I'm certainly proud of it, and very happy with the way it turned out.

The trim I used might work, it's just normal molding from Home Depot. I did see a thread somewhere on RC where someone bought flexible trim online to use on their bow-front stand. You could also look into that, it might be easier than what I used.

To bend trim, or boards, cut halfway through every 1/2" or so. The board turns into a wet noodle! Wish my wife was into my reefing, but it gives me peace lol

Nice tanks!

As Reel North said, you can kerf the back of the trim to form the bend. If you don't have a good saw to do this safely, then another way is to cut the trim in sections large enough to fit in your oven and bring them up to about 300 degrees. Soak the trim in water for about 5 minutes first. Use a clamp to bend them to approximately the needed curve while still hot. Then, they will be easy to nail or glue in place.

Most standard wood trim bends well anyway, so you might not need to worry about it. Even so, you can make some pretty severe curves using heat.

What kind of light bulb do you have above your refugium Coelli?

It's some kind of 6500k 90w-equivalent LED bulb in a generic reflector, both from the hardware store. I'll see if I can find it online and edit with the link if so. Grows macro and coralline like crazy!

Edit: Whoops! It's a 100w-eqiuvalent (16w) 5000k. Here it is: Feit BPAG1600OM/5K/LED Utility A21/Globe LED Dimmable 1600 Lumen, 5000K https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00JQU6AJU

For something easy you can always paint the black trim white. :)
