Landlords Log - Breeding Gold Striped Maroon Clowns

when do u add rotifer into larval tank? and do u add rotifer diet food in larval tank too?
thanks

Rotifers are added on the first day. I add rotifer diet to the tank for 3 days until I start introducing nhbbs, then I simply let the brine shrimp eat the remainder of the greenwater / rotifers. It is a nice way to get the green out of the larval tank befiore any ammonia build up.

When the weather breaks, let's do it. Shoot me a PM with some days and times you could stop by. Weekends are usually the best time for me but I am also available most weekdays after 3:00 PM. I'm gonna shoot you a PM in a few.

Thanks Kurt

Yes I put Rotifer Diet into the larval tank for the first three days. I do not do water changes to get it out. The Newly Hatched Baby Brine Shrimp (nhbbs) that I add on the 3rd day eat all of the rotifer diet right out of the water so no water changes are necessary to get rid of it.

i see,,so when do u do first water change? and how often?
my joyce book is on the way thanks

For my Gold Striped Maroon clowns I haven't yet had to do a water change. I figure that the greenwater (Rotifer Diet) was creating most of my ammonia issues and now that I am only using it for 3 days and the bbs are eating it from the water it seems to have helped to drive down the ammonia that I used to get.

Long Story Short - No water changes and I'll have a batch at 4 weeks old this Friday. Water has no Ammonia registering on the Ammonia Badge :)

Thought I would post some pictures I took last night. The wife's camera turned up so I have no excuses. I wish I could do better with the camera but here you can see some shots at 6 weeks of age.

If you look carefully at the next picture, you'll see the 4 week olds in the tank to the left which now all have their stripes and are eating Otohime A. No more hatching BBS for these guys, Yeah!

Someday I do plan on spending some money on a camera of decent quality for taking better pictures but forking over a grand for a camera and some lenses is better saved for a birthday present. There are so many other things to buy.....

Take Care and Have a Great Week!
