If I were you, I wouldn't mix puffers of different species. Puffers can be very territorial, or at least in my experience. I feel your pain in regards to an angel though, I have a 180 and it's still not "good enough" for a pomacanthus/holacanthus angel, bums me out a lot.:uhoh3:
A dwarf angel would go nice with your tank, a little flame angel would be cool.

Me too. I have heard conflicting info on multiple puffers some people say puffers are fine together others say they will be very agressive towards each. Is them being agresive towards each other your experence?

I would recommend a juvi Navarchus, like a 1.5 inch specimin...it is the smallest of the "large" angels...slower growing...you will need to upgrade to a bigger tank in a couple years though...

Some of the medium sized "large" angels actually stay smaller than some species of dwarf angels. The singapore, cream, flagfin, bluespotted, blueline, regal and several others very rarely get larger than 6 inches and would be fine in a tank that size. I agree that Pomacantus and Holacanthus are too big and aggressive for that setup.

I would also suggest that the genicanthus are a poor fit for a tank that size as they generally are much more active swimmers than other angels despite their smaller size. I had a pair that seemed cramped in a 180.

I'm really surprised at the "none" responses for a tank with those dimensions  Or maybe I have a different definition of "large angel"... some Apolemichthys or Chaetodontoplus species would work. I personally don't see a navarchus, listed with absolute MAX sixe of 11", outgrowing a tank with those dimensions either.

It depends on personality a lot. The main thing with mixing species is you always want species that are similar in size. Puffer fights can be quite bad. A couple tobies may simply nip each other in a fight. A medium puffer on the other hand could take a fatal chunk out of a small puffer in the same fight.

Otherwise it is hit and miss. That is why you get conflicting info. Sometimes it works and other times it is instant disaster. Hard to predict unless you know you have a very aggressive puffer.

yea.... the large angels just get to large & many have such a huge attitude you will more then likely have issues as they get big. It's a crapshoot attitude wise so you could possibly get by for a few years, I just hate the idea of having to sell a fish when they get bigger. Many of the large angels I think shouldn't be in anything smaller then a 8ft tank, just like some tangs.

Well, in the wild, puffers will completely chew off each others' fins to keep them from being mobile, and slowly starve. I never tried it, it just wouldn't be smart as I've heard various horror stories regarding mixing puffers. I know, it bums me out too.

Yes these are the genuses I am thinking of and would like suggestions on angels like those that can do fine in a 135.

From the research I've done i've saw the opposite, not mixing same species (ie anthrons etc.) I've mixed Anthrons and Porc Puffers and experienced zero aggression over a 4 year span; both medium sized.
