Large angel suggestions

Agree with the comments on puffers (skip them) and the large angels (none)

If it was me, I'd consider a Goldflake or a Regal. These would fall under the "medium" size.

But I am also a subscriber to the opinion that both of my 300's are too small for large angels.

Black Velvet is my favorite of the new "medium" category. Affordable, beautiful, and great personality.....As stated, I would also not do Pomacanthus or Holacanthus as they well outgrow your tank.

That would be my contribution to the hobby! A "new" size classification.

Not to be confused with other forums discussing "medium" tanks. I have no idea what that would be.

Yes these are the genuses I am thinking of and would like suggestions on angels like those that can do fine in a 135

Apolemichthys- All of them would be fine, only the flagfin and cream are common but the goldflake, griffis, and bandits are available.

Chaetodontoplus- Most of these would be suitable but the true personifer and the scribbled get pretty big as does the meredithi (false personifer), the rest stay smaller. The singapore and black-velvet are pretty common and some of the others are available seasonally. The bluespotted is rare but a real find, the bluestripe is my favorite in the genus and small ones are available seasonally (like right now). Live Aquaria has had them for a while. I have a small juvenile in my 60 gallon refugia and a larger one in my 180 display and am going to pair these up eventually.

Most of the angels in these two genera are either rare, touchy, have some specialized needs, or are very expensive but they are awesome fish.

The regal angel would work and I really like the Red Sea and IO variants

Genicanthus- The bellus and Watanabei stay the smallest and are the most beautiful in the genus IMO

The Meridithi maxes out at about 10", I think it would be a possible if not ideal situation in your 135. They are awesome fish for sure. The last time I saw a Griffis for sale it was right around $500 so that price sounds in line.

I think I will pass on a griffis for now then. I am thinking of doing a pair of personifer would this work or would 2 be too much? Would they pick on 2 4in butterflys? Thanks
