large angelfish question

I am looking into getting an Angelfish and was looking for some advise from large Angel owners.
I am wanting either a Koran, Grey, or Blue Angelfish. Anyone out there have any first hand experience with these?

If it helps it is going into my 240g tank, it's tankmates would be :

picasso trigger 4"
stonefish ( which is why I need a large angel )
american eel 24"-26"
sfe 18"-20"

Again, anyone with experience with any of these angels please give me any insight that you have, I've read the books and online resources but they do not always paint a correct pictureof the fish.

Any of those should do great in your tank. All of ythose angels are pretty hardy fish, just pick the one you like the best and go with it.

That's where I've gotten stuck, I'm pretty equal as far as my liking the fish, I'm looking for that "edge" that would place one over the rest be it, personality, habits, etc.

I would look at the Queen Angel, very close to the Blue Angel, but to me the extra color and streamers make it a very beautiful fish.
Not sure as to price in Florida , but here in pittsburgh the price for Queen was 10 - 15 dollars more. Just my 2cents thou.
Good luck.

I've thought about the Queens but I kinda like the Blues because they are a little more subtle. Also we have the Queens angels in the wild here so I actually see them whenever I go into the water.I'm trying to find a good color balance in the tank.

I think Korans are very beautiful in a subtle way, they considered by many to be THE most hardy, and I think they stay a little smaller as adults than the grey and blue. All are pretty reasonably priced. I'd get the Koran.

I had a Koran for a while it was just starting to change and when I moved it into my 240 I found out it was not quite big enough. My stonefish got it. Sad Day!

I would actually recommend the Imperator, Blueface, or the french. I dont think the koran looks very good after it passes its juvenile hood. IMO depending where you get your blue angel from, they are more prone to disease if they are older IMO

Out of your list go with the Koran a lot of personality and very striking in appearence especialy when they go through the color change.Hey can you send me one of those queen angels?PM me if that is possible.

I have a queen, juvenile imperator, blueface, sohal and a midas blenny in my 360 gallon aquarium.
They all get alone fine with the exception of the queen and blueface. Colors are too similar and there is a big size difference. Also, blueface was the last angel added. Most of the problems are during feeding time. Nothing too brutal, just the typical... get away from me and my food! The blueface was aggressive about getting his share of food up until a week ago. Some odd reason he doesnt swim too far from his cave now. Would like to see him eat more. Thankfully, he has not shown any signs of thinning out or health problems. No color change. Not sure if its just a phase or the queen seriously scared him. He has always been a bit shy (common for blueface angels) but would manage to get his share of food. Hope he soon gains enough courage to come out again more often.
The queen is without a doubt the boss of the tank. She eats like a royal pig. The imperator and sohal are just a bit smaller but can hold their own. The imperator has two advantages to helping it from getting picked on... color/shape diffrence and its loud "gunt" noisy. If others are a pest to him, he simply "gunts" and they usually swim away. The sohal is about the same same size as the queen. They are completely different in appearance and for the most part are pals. They swim together and seem to enjoy each others presence. Their fishship has actually taken some of the stress off in the tank. Sohal gives the queen a run for her title as boss. This keeps the queen occupied and under control. Don't think it really matter to the sohal whos boss, as long as he gets enough food. Also, a big pig!!
The tank is for sale. PM if interested. Plan to upgrade to a even larger aquarium. Would like to keep these fish thoughout their life span. Eventually, 360 will be too small!

I think I'm going to go with the Koran and I do appreciate the input form everyone. And please keep giving experiences because it can always help someone that is looking into getting one. Plus who knows when I might set up yet another tank!
Reefer334, I would gladly get you one of the queens around here exept I really like not being in jail. That's why I don't have one. :D

I've kept a few large angelfish species - but not Koran / Grey / Blue. Of the 3 I think I'd go for the koran - it has the reputation of being the most hardy, and being slightly smaller. I would think the blue is gonna get as big as a queen, and a grey as big as a french.......

Plust I think the koran has some pretty nice colours when big..... I say a few big show specimens in Thailand (shop) a couple of years back and they were lovely!

I agree, I have seen 1 koran in full adult colors and it was awesme, I picked up a blue (grey ) and white map puffer yesterday so I'm ruling out the grey angel due to color. I'm still looking for the right color balance.
The biggest issue I have is getting fish large enough to go into my tank as my stonefish can eat decent sized fish ( up to 6" so far that I've witnessed ). I would love to have a Spanish Hogfish but I can't find any for sale that are big enough to go into my tank, and all of the local divers that keep telling me they'd get me one haven't yet.
