Does anyone know what kind of crab this is? He's pretty big and I took a pic of him next to an adult fairy wrasse for comparison.

I don't know what it is, but if a fish goes missing in the next few days, don't be surprised.

I'm not sure what species that hermit crab is, but while snorkeling in the Florida Keys I've seen the same crab. Sometimes about the size of your's, but I've also seen them much, much bigger living in Queen Conch shells. I seriously doubt that it's a herbivore and I'd find a new home for it if you are keeping it in a 'normal' reef tank.

Haha I caught him and 2 others in the keys only the 2 smaller ones made it back. I was scared about them and my little fish but they don't mind them. All they do is sift my sand all day and night eating scraps and the little wild clams I put in there.

Giant hermit crab. I brought one back from Florida with me about 8 years ago. I don't want to say it was a mistake as it made a really good inhabitant of a species tank. He/she was one of the meanest little son of a guns I've ever met in my life! Would eat anything, including me if it was able to get a hold of me more than once, I also had brought back a bunch of sand sifting hermits that it systematically ripped out of their shells and consumed. The first and only time it did get me I was vacuuming the sand and I turned my head away from the tank for a second, it scaled the lift tube and grabbed onto my hand. Boy did I yelp! I never turned my head while cleaning the tank again. It also would try to attack fish through the glass in the quarantine tank next to its tank. In short, get that adorable little psycho a tank of its own and enjoy the ride.
