My adult female picasso clownfish seems to have a health problem. She has 2 or 3 brown spots on each side of her. The average spot is about 1/2 the size of a dime. The brown spots are only on the middle white area of her body. The spots are not very dark brown, they started faint and are worse now. Yesterday was the worst I've seen. The spots are slightly inflamed and there are very small amounts of clear / white stuff coming off the scales. Yesterday I became concerned due to the inflammation and the clear/white stuff. I think the clear/white stuff is minor compared to the brown and inflammation, but maybe to someone else it is a sign of something.
This has happened once before about 6 months ago. That time the spots went away after about 7 - 10 days.
Both last time and this time the spots appeared 1 - 2 days after having trouble dialing in phosphate reducer. The first time I was using Rowaphos passively, and I listened to the instructions which say not to rinse if using passively. A ton of fine particles were released into the display. This time I was using Rowaphos and GFO in a reactor and fine particles may have been released because I had the flow turned up too high.
Has anyone seen anything like this before?
