Large outside pool.

Hey, I was thinking of doing a 10'x10'x18" pond to grow some corals and algae and grow some cool live rock. Anyone ever try doing an outside pond style with the Firestone liners? I need to grow out about 125 lbs or more live rock and thought this would be an interesting way to do it. Any thoughts? I will be using RO water and a few power heads-solar powered of course. There may be a few fish that have to hang out there too. I monitor my goldfish tank on the patio and temps stay pretty normal and do swing much..so any input would be appreciated.

Live rock tends to be sharp and rubber liners tend to be easy to puncture, there are plenty of fish that would work well.

I was thinking about the sharpness and though a nice layer of sand that I have in the basement about 200 lbs...enough to cover the area for the rock to sit. Thanks for the thought. What fish do you think would handle this idea? Besides Damsels..LOL Love them, just dont want them (damsels that is).

I'm interested in doing a lagoon systle like this in my new backyard. my concern is heat and rainwater messing with salinity. Im on board this thread for any constructive input

As well as pesky critters that see your expensive fish as a snack. IE: Racoons

As far as the lr being sharp you can place eggcrate light diffusers on the liner cover it with sand and place the lr on it.
As far the rainwater you can build a canopy over it this will also provide shade. As far as keeping critters out like raccoons you can place chicken wire fence over it like people do with ponds.

Well, I think salinity would spike when the Pennsylvania winter froze all of the water. But I like your thinking- I think it would be really cool to ahve an outdoor lagoon that can hold a tidepool or something.
