Large Spot on Purple Firefish - Please Help

I applaude you for taking the tang back:) As far as the food you may have to "season" it in order to get them to eat it. You could add a little garlic to it.
Do you have any Prazi on hand?

Man, the firefish and two clowns ate the medicated food just fine. I thawed it out in RODI water and then dumped it into a fish net. Then I set it in the water for just a bit and the clowns were already nipping at the fish net. Put the net in front of the MP10 and let it blow all the food out. Everyone ate just as if it was mysis shrimp.

No Prazi on hand. Going to call some LFS's here in Houston and try and find it tomorrow.

Relieved things are moving in the right direction again!

I have two purple firefish that I added a few weeks ago. After a few days, both of them had spots just like yours. I searched and these look like isopods (related to the "roly poly" things you find outside). They are parasites, but generally seem to be harmless with well-fed stress-free fish. Mine were gone in a few days. Could see when they were on that they moved around and were too big to be ich.

Must be something about purple firefish and these isopods...

Man, that is such a relief to hear! Thanks so much for taking the time to share this information with me. I realized pretty quickly that it wasn't ich as well from what people said in this thread, but still felt uneasy not knowing what it was. Then a link was posted to a thread where another guy had the exact same thing we've had on his purple firefish as well.

Did a 25% water change this evening, and everyone seems to be back to normal. I'm going to continue the medicated food I posted a pic of just to be safe.

Just wanted to say thank you again to everyone for your input. I know I'm new to this forum, but we've all got to start somewhere I suppose. Hope I can learn from this and maybe help someone else down the road.
