Large Tank and Humidity/Evap Issues

Gonna Need A Bigger Tank
Beginning to plan my 210 and realize I'm entering a new world (currently have a 120 and a 90 that will be combined into my 210). The tank measures 86x24x24.
I've been reading quite a bit about the need to prepare for the heat/humidity that will be added to the room. My current plan is to use T5 lighting only and to have the sump be located on the other side of the outside wall of the tank room.
What considerations/problems do I need to be thinking through in regards to this?
Also, a little OT, but best return pumps for a 210 w/ dual overflows???
Thanks,

Depends on how your tank design, it will evaporate more or less. My 300G tank evaps ~2G/day typically which is not much contribution to room humidity. Someone's using fans as cooling method then it's different story.

So are you suggesting that if I use a chiller as my primary cooling method (in the fish room) then there wouldn't necessarily be a need to use fans in the canopy and therefore reduce room humidity???

It will depend on the layout of your room. If the display tank is part of large room, then the evaporation might not have too much effect especially if you have A/C in the room. As for the sump room, you might want to install an exhaust fan or one of those bathroom fans design to extract humidity.

My sump room is going to be outside on a screened porch...the tank room will have it's own A/C mini-split.

I have a bathroom exhaust fan over my tank which exhausts outside. My 6' long tank evaporates a little more than a gallon a day and it used to condense on my walls and in my closets.

Paul B, is your sump inside your stand or in another room? I'm trying to determine if having my sump/pumps/skimmer outside is going to alleviate the need for any type of exhaust fan inside the house...

with all that out side and no halides i think you will be ok with the house ac... i have a 210 in wall with 180 gallon sump, 75 gallon fuge , and a 75 gallon frag tank, all with halides on and a really big ac unit in the window. if i dont have the halides on then i dont need the ac. i just keep the door open. i do have fans on the sump and on the 75 gallons though.

You should be fine. With your sump outside your only going to have 170 or so gallons in the house by the time you figure rock and sand.. Plus T5s tend to put their heat into the room more then the tank.. So your Evap won't be that high.. Even if it was high since the room has its own Ac it will pull a ton of the moisture out of the air. I would just set it up and monitor humidity in the room and see if its an issue. I dont think it will be though.

Not sure on the sump, humidity, etc issue, but I have a 220g w/ dual overflows and use the Eheim 1260 return pump. It's nearly silent, reliable, submersible. I love it. I got to see it working on the system before I bought it, and decided to buy the pump with the tank deal. Got it from markandkristen.
