Large tank installation

tangstank

Obsessed Reefer
I have installed this 6' tank into the wall. I need some suggestions before the finishing.
I need some ideas on the border. Right now, I have the dry wall in front of the tank border & I thought of putting in a frame around.
On second thoughts I was thinking of installing the tank at the edge in line with the wall and use a frame around the black border.

Any suggestions on what looks better.

I would do a nice triple tier (for lack of a better description)black picture frame around it. (gives the frame kind of a 3d effect and would frame the tank nicely.

I second the rock wall look if it goes with your decor. I almost did it on mine, but it didn't go with the old pub type feel I was going for.

nycreef thanks for the tip on the rock wall. I am actually working on that now. I will send the picture I saw.

streetjudge79: I will be putting in a white trip like a picture frame around it. Will be working on it a lot over the week end.

Hey tangstank nice tank! If u take a look at my build thread you will see my previous 90 gallon with a frame around it. Currently working on my 270 build still looking for some ideas also. GOOD LUCK

I also really like the idea of a rock wall. I have seen it surrounding aquariums in pics, but never in person. I think that it would look very cool and they have rock that works with about any decor.

Im talking about a rock wall which has 1 inch tall x 12 inches long rectangular shaped stones similar to what you see in a ski lodge.

Personaly I would use the styro foam border material that stucco guys use around exterior windows and doorways, it will give it some bulk and when painted will look like the rest of the wall.
